Mr. Abdul Qadir A. Rahman Buhari is a visionary leader and entrepreneur, currently serving as
the Chairman of the Crescent Innovation and Incubation Council (CIIC). With an MBA from
Babson College, USA, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Anna
University, Chennai, he brings a rare blend of technical expertise and strategic business insight
to the world of innovation and incubation.

With over two decades of experience in the maritime and port operations sector, Mr. Buhari
transformed West Asia Maritime Limited from a single vessel operation into a robust fleet of 20
vessels. His leadership extends globally, having launched and led ventures in Singapore and
Australia. A strong supporter of innovation, he is an Angel Investor with The Chennai Angelsand a Limited Partner with Inventus India, Bharat Innovation Fund, and Accelerating Asia (Singapore). 

He is also an investor in SmartOwner (Real Estate AIF), showcasing his keen eye for high-growth opportunities and his strategic approach to scaling ventures in dynamic, fast-evolving markets. As Chairman of CIIC, Mr. Buhari champions the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation. He leads the council in fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem by providing mentorship, resources, and incubation support to aspiring entrepreneurs. His vision is to empower the next generation of innovators to turn groundbreaking ideas into impactful businesses that address real-world challenges. 

Beyond business, Mr. Buhari is deeply committed to social impact and community development. He serves as Secretary of the B.S. Abdur Rahman Zakaat Fund, which has awarded educational grants to thousands of underprivileged students. He is also actively involved in the All India Islamic Foundation and other charitable trusts that promote education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment.
